"Journey to
Pakistan" Event to
celebrate National Day in Ottawa
Ottawa----Pakistan’s
High Commissioner to Canada Mr. Akbar Zeb has
emphasized the need to strengthen unity, faith and
discipline among the people living inside and
outside Pakistan and said by acting upon the vision
of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah the nation can
achieve further stability and progress.
Mr. Akbar Zeb was
addressing members of Canadian-Pakistani community
at a function organized by the Canada-Pakistan
Association here at an the Shankman’s Art Centre.
Mr. Akbar Zeb said Pakistan
was created after a long struggle. Our forefathers
made innumerable sacrifices during the process and
it is the duty of every Pakistani to commit to the
development of our homeland and make every possible
effort towards that end.
The High Commissioner appreciated the
efforts being made by the Canada-Pakistan
Association to project the real image of Pakistan
and to enlighten the youth about over traditions and
culture.
The function “Journey to
Pakistan” was organized to celebrate the National
Day of Pakistan. A documentary highlighting the
salient features of Pakistan and the progress made
in different areas of life was played on the
occasion. A colorful cultural show displaying the
traditional and dresses and dances of the four
provinces was also presented. Awards were given to
Mr. Azhar Ali Khan, Mr. Yasir Naqvi and Dr. Sardar
Yaqub for an outstanding performance in their
respective areas.
The event was also
addressed by Senator Mobina Jaffer, Mr. Eric
Hoskins, Minister for Immigration, Senator Marcel
Prud’homme P.C. and Lubna Syed, President
Canada-Pakistan Association.
